Sacramento Valley Concert Choir

Position: Artistic Director
Job Description: Sacramento Valley Concert Choir (SVCC) is seeking a new Musical and Artistic Director. SVCC is a non-audition, volunteer community SATB choral association with approximately 50 singers. The choir’s mission is to provide musical entertainment as a service to retirement communities, assisted living facilities, organizations, and to the general public.  Rehearsals: The choir rehearses two seasons per year: September through mid-December, and January through mid-May. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday nights at 6:00pm or 7:00pm–9:00pm at Arden Christian Church, 4300 Las Cruces Way, Sacramento, CA 95864.  Concerts: Each season concludes with five to six concerts (in December and May). One to three of them are public concerts and the others are at retirement homes in the area.  
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serves as the musical coordinator and conductor for the chorus.
  
• Creates, and prepares choir for two seasonal programs per year.
• Plans and directs weekly 2-hour full-choir rehearsals, plus 1-hour sectional rehearsals as needed.
  
• Creates a song practice schedule.
• Sends weekly email updates to choir members.
  
• Collaborates with the choir Board, the piano accompanist, and music committee. 

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated technical and artistic musical ability.
  
• Strength in time management, teaching, rehearsal, and performance.
  
• Written and verbal interpersonal communication skills, including basic computer proficiency.
  
• Strong leadership skills, including the ability to create an environment that encourages self-improvement and participation.
  
• Enthusiasm, patience, a sense of humor, and enjoyment of working with singers.
