ANDREAS PREPONIS
Andreas Preponis is the director of choral and vocal music at Las Positas College in Livermore, CA. Born and raised in Germany, he holds a bachelor and master’s degree in Music Education from the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen as well as a master’s degree in choral conducting from CSULA. He currently serves on the boards of CCDA and CAJ.
Previous to joining the faculty at LPC, Andreas taught at five colleges in Southern California, directing the vocal jazz ensembles at Pasadena City College, Santa Monica College, and the award-winning Fullerton Jazz Singers at CSU Fullerton. Andreas has performed as a singer, drummer, percussionist, pianist, guitarist, bassist, actor and voice over talent. He is a songwriter, producer, arranger, and composer. Andreas composed music for several short movies, starred in numerous musical theater productions originating a handful of lead characters, and played in countless bands from a cappella and instrumental jazz, pop, funk, and soul to progressive rock. As a studio musician, he has contributed to over 20 album releases and has worked on projects for CBS, HBO, Disney and DreamWorks, most recently as a featured vocalist on Harmonious, the 50th anniversary fireworks show at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. |
