ALAN GARCIA
Magnolia High School Choir Director
Alan Garcia is the Choir Director at Magnolia High School in Anaheim, California. What once began as a small program with 33 members total, Alan has built into a comprehensive choral program of 4 performing ensembles dedicated to student equity, musicianship, and community outreach. Within his first year of teaching, he was recognized as Teacher of the Year for his work in increasing membership through a welcoming, safe space for learning. His students have made SCVA Regional Honor Choir annually since his first year, and have recently begun to score into All State Honor Choir. His groups have received superior ratings in both sight-reading and performance at SCVA festivals, and have gone on several overnight tours across California. Alan is a proud alumnus of CSU Fullerton, where he received his teaching credential and BA in Music Education. While in school, Mr. Garcia studied voice with Dr. Mark Goodrich and sang in choirs with Dr. Robert Istad and Dr. Christopher Peterson. Currently, he serves as the Membership Chair of SCVA and the Student Activities Representative with CCDA. Outside of teaching, Alan maintains a staff singer position with Pacific Chorale and serves as cantor and section leader at St. Norbert Catholic Church.
